First Hike of the Season

We are a nature lovin' family. Anytime we can come up with a reason to go outside to do something – WE DO IT! And anytime the weather gets warmer than 45 degrees we are out doing what we love – being OUTSIDE! So, when weather.com was predicting 50 degree weather on Sunday morning we readied ourselves for the First Hike of the Season. And as we ventured out (you've GOT to know that getting 5 kids ready to go on a hike was quite a task & took a lot of planning & even more execution!) we headed out for Otter Creek Park which is just past Fort Knox, KY. As we are driving, the rain starts to fall & it starts to get heavier & heavier until we realize our plans have been washed down the gutter & you should see us, our fine family of 7, with big frowns on our faces just watching the heavy raindrops on the outside of the van. So, we hang our heads & head back home & just as we are about to take our exit, the sun starts to break through & we realize we have another chance because just up the road in good ol' Radcliff, KY is Saunders Springs. So, we take a detour & get out & we're rearing & ready to go. And I must say – the babies will fit into this family just fine – they did superbly in the hiking backpacks. This further proves we are a family that loves the outdoors because one of our very first baby purchases was a set of hiking backpacks!

That looks like so much fun! I totally agree, outside is the best, we love to get out and explore also.

It looks like a beautiful area. The pictures on the wooden steps reminds me a lot of a park we have here.

I've participated in a hiking group for moms and their kids a few summers. It's a good way to get out, excersize you and the kids, and meet new friends.
